Stephen Pannell established S.C. Pannell in McLaren Vale in 2004 after working in Burgundy, Bordeaux, Priorat and Barolo, followed by eight years as chief red winemaker at BRL Hardy. Tempranillo Touriga—affectionately known as “The Red One”—brings together two great Iberian varieties that are particularly well suited to McLaren Vale’s warm, Mediterranean climate.
Juicy and medium-bodied, it offers bright cherry and plum fruit with floral lift, sarsaparilla and warm spice. Plush texture and savoury tannins keep everything balanced, making this a particularly food-friendly red for chorizo, grilled meats or tapas-style dishes.
This wine has delicious fruit and velvety tannins. A perfect lunchtime glass of red to keep out the cold. A great accompaniment to cheese.
Cola and purple flowers, and a delicious texture. Perfect food wine. Absolute winner here
