Nocturne is the Margaret River project of Julian and Alana Langworthy, producing expressive wines from carefully selected sites across the region. Julian is one of Western Australia's most decorated winemakers, having been named Halliday Wine Companion Winemaker of the Year in 2019 and winning the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy in 2016.
The Carbunup SR Rosé is Nocturne's contemporary take on dry Margaret River rosé, traditionally centred on Sangiovese and made with an emphasis on freshness, texture and savoury detail. Recent releases have shown delicate red-fruit character, fine phenolic grip and bright acidity, making this a refined and seriously drinkable style rather than a simple fruit-driven rosé.
AustraliaFIrst tried this wine at one of Sydney's top restaurants as recommended by the sommelier there. I thought it was fantastic as it's not sweet and matched several courses, Even better that it comes from a boutique WA vineyard.
