MMAD Vineyard is the Blewitt Springs project of Martin Shaw, Michael Hill Smith MW, Adam Wadewitz and David LeMire, the team behind Shaw + Smith and Tolpuddle Vineyard. Their old-vine Shiraz comes from vines first planted in 1941, rooted in the deep Maslin sands of Blewitt Springs over a layer of ironstone that contributes structure and complexity, while cooling sea breezes help preserve freshness.
The 2024 is a beautifully composed, medium-to-full-bodied Shiraz, combining black cherry, plum and boysenberry with black pepper, savoury herbs and subtle smoked-meat notes, all carried by impressive freshness and fine structure. Campbell Mattinson awarded it 96 points, calling it “the perfect McLaren Vale shiraz”, while the 2027 Halliday Wine Companion rated it 97+ points, noting its freshness, brightness and distinctive character.
