MMAD Vineyard is the Blewitt Springs project of Martin Shaw, Michael Hill Smith MW, Adam Wadewitz and David LeMire MW, centred on a remarkable vineyard where the Grenache was planted in 1939. Grown on deep Maslin sands over ironstone, the 2024 Grenache was hand-picked, mostly destemmed and fermented in wood and concrete before around nine months in French oak. It’s perfumed and finely structured, with fresh cherry, floral and dark red-fruit characters, a plush mid-palate and fine mineral tannins.
The 2024 has received 97+ points from Marcus Ellis in the Halliday Wine Companion, who praises its old-vine depth and balance and calls it likely the best release yet. Shanteh Wale also awarded it 98 points, while the wine won the Australian Grenache Trophy at the International Wine Challenge.
