More Information

There's an irresistible velvet glove-like appeal that leads to an elusive x-factor that only comes with age.

The last vintage of this wine was the cheapest 97 point cabernet blend in James Halliday's Companion and while I'm loathed to use previous reviews and awards, I mentioned that because it's indicative of the value on offer.  The headline suggests it's a Bordeaux look-a-like and it is, but you won't find a Bordeaux producer selling a wine like this for under $50!

In Australia, such blends are usually limited to a handful of the more famous wines- Cullen Diana Madeline and Mount Mary Quintet dabble in such blends although with splashes of Petit Verdot.

If you're querying the age and wondering about the vintage, rest assured the 2012 vintage was considered one of the best - James Halliday rated the vintage 8 out of 10. But if you want more confidence on the condition of this wine, all you need to do is try a bottle. Despite this being an aged cabernet drinking at perhaps the peak, this wine is still fruit driven with years ahead.

There's an irresistible velvet glove-like appeal that leads to an elusive x-factor that only comes with age It's a high class cabernet blend sourced from a single vineyard with all the bells and whistles thrown into the winemaking and the results show. If there were more stocks around, I'm sure this would make it into the Cloudwine Christmas Dozen in 5 months time, but there ain't more stocks, so grab it while you can.
