Big bang for (sparkling) buck here. Released as a 9yr old and an impressive 96pts from WineFront.
Kate Hill came to Tasmania in 2006 to fulfil her ambition of making some of Australia’s best, world class, cool climate wines. She is no stranger to the world of wine; for more than ten years she has been making wine in some of the world’s prime wine-making regions including South Australia, France, California and Chile. She was an executive winemaker with Orlando Wyndham for four years at their Riverina winery and has a number of gold medal wines to her credit. Kate’s experience in Tasmania includes working with Stefano Lubiana Wines and contract winemaker Winemaking Tasmania.
She established her own wine brand in 2008 as a negociant producer, utilising the services of a contract winery.
"A Chardonnay dominant blend, this is a precisely crafted sparkling with fruit sourced from the Derwent and Coal Valley that has spent 5 years on lees before its release. Fresh, tart lemon juice, green apples and white peach combine with jasmine, honeysuckle and a delicate nutty element that lingers long on the palate as the flavours evolve and show fresh strawberries, a hint of salinity and yellow peaches. With tiny, delicate bubbles and crisp acidity, it is a wine that deserves some time and reflection as you enjoy it, much like the attention you would give a fine sculpture that has been teased from a single piece of timber. This has so much freshness and life that it will happily age for many more years if you have the restraint to hide it somewhere in the cellar." 96pts - WineFront
