Dexter Pinot Noir 2022

"This is the prettiest most approachable pinot I can remember from Tod Dexter. It has a lovely mix of cherries and strawberries all delicately spiced with some blood orange and zest keeping it tangy and juicy. "We seem to have missed the 2020 and 2021 vintages, but there you go. Anyway, a solid performer over many years, as you can see HERE.  Cherry, strawberry, a little spice, floral and autumnal, with a subtle mint top note. It’s medium-bodied, red fruits and spice, with light cedar oak, fine pumice stone tannin, cool acidity, and a juicy strawberry finish of precision and fine length. "Bright, medium-full crimson colour, purple-tinted, with lovely purity of ripe cherry aromas, the fruit doing all the talking. Traces of spices and balsamic herbs. A fruit-sweet core with ample tannins surrounding it, adding structure and length. Tod Dexter is a very experienced Mornington Peninsula winemaker best know for his roles at Yabby Lake and Stonier. 'Dexter' is, of course, his personal side project. As you can expect Tod always has the inside running on the best fruit sources in the region.

The Dexter Vineyard is in a small east/west valley. The evening sea breezes from Port Phillip Bay, Westernport Bay and Bass Strait helps moderate the local climate. The vineyard was set out to maximise its qualities and specific site. Planted on the north facing slope, it allows for maximum sunlight interception.
