Denton Nebbiolo 2021

Denton View Hill, is an isolated slope in the middle of the Yarra Valley on the north side of the Yarra River. The vineyard lies over a granite ‘plug’ from the late Devonian Age (370 million years ago), sitting above the surrounding sandstones and siltstones of the Valley. The Denton wines and Shed series are made by Luke Lambert, one of the leading winemakers in Victoria.

The Nebbiolo block sits half way up the North Western slope, catching all available sunshine hours. The granitic sand over granite boulders and long, slow growing season provide a very special and unique terroir.

"Various clones and two picks that were both fermented and left on skins. Pressed to 500L French oak puncheons (20% new) and left unsulfured for 18 months prior to bottling. A bright, medium garnet. Perfumed and poised on the nose with its bouquet of morello cherries, red plums, dried flowers, tobacco and orange zest. Even better on the medium-bodied and very persistent palate. Textured and long-finishing with very fine, polished tannins. Bravissimo!"  Rating: 97 Points.  Philip Rich.  Halliday Wine Companion
