Clyde Park’s Single Block E Shiraz comes from a north-facing parcel of its Moorabool Valley vineyard at Bannockburn, planted in 1996. For the 2022, the fruit was hand harvested and whole-berry fermented with a portion of whole bunches, open fermented and gently hand plunged before 10 months maturation in a combination of new and seasoned French oak. Clyde Park describes a deep, concentrated cool-climate Shiraz with dark chocolate, liquorice, black olive, clove and blackcurrant, carried by fine tannins and white-pepper spice.
Philip Rich awarded the 2022 96 points in the Halliday Wine Companion, describing it as “tightly wound, focused and concentrated”, with dark cherry, black raspberry, floral and spice notes and considerable cellaring potential.
