Château Bois de Rolland sits on the Coubeyrac plateau, around 17 kilometres from Saint-Émilion, where clay and limestone soils provide a particularly good home for Merlot. The property dates back to 1850 and has been owned by the Géromin family since 1980; today it is run by Michel Géromin’s daughters, Audrey and Marion.
The 2020 Vieilles Vignes is a classic, approachable Bordeaux Supérieur with blackcurrant and dark fruit alongside liquorice, earth, black olive, cedar and spicy tobacco. It is medium-bodied, with slightly chewy tannins and a savoury, cedar-edged finish, making it a nicely mature expression of Bordeaux that is drinking well now.
