"Hooley dooley... It's a cracker'' Erin Larkin (Halliday Wine Companion)
"96 Points. Hooley dooley. Castelli seem to be in the habit of producing great wines. No complaints from us, the drinkers. This is a harmonious, powerful and exciting rendition, not only of cabernet sauvignon, but of the Frankland River regional characteristics of the grape. Gravel, ferrous, salted cassis. Licorice. It's a cracker. Supple and dense at once. This will age, too. Buy it and drink it now or when your newborn turns 15. $38. 14.7% alc. Drink by 2035. Screwcap." Erin Larkin, winecompanion.com.au.
"Cabernet from the Frankland River region which saw 16 months maturation in a range of new, one-year-old and two-year-old French oak barriques. Inky magenta hue, there are deep and pleasing aromatics here with blackberries to the fore, supported by cloves, leather, bay leaves, chocolate and plums. A wine with serious concentration and intensity, good focus plus impressive length. The finish has delightfully silky tannins so expect the wine to drink well over the next eight to ten years and there will be room for improvement for the score over that time." Ken Garret. Wine Pilot.
"Very dense, bold, generous wine – the perfect 2018 vintage showing off here. Lashings of cassis, coffee and vanilla – oak is evident and powerful, offering plenty of space for the fruit to develop in time. Plenty of shape and frame with a grippy tannin profile – this will age nicely." Emma Farrelly Wine Pilot.
