Balnaves is a family-owned Coonawarra estate established in 1975 at the southern end of the region’s famous terra rossa strip. The 2024 The Blend combines 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot, matured with 18% new French oak.
Perfumed and medium-bodied, it offers raspberry, blackberry and dark plum fruit with gentle spice and smooth, velvety tannins. The cool, dry 2024 season allowed the fruit and tannins to develop gradually, producing a polished and approachable Coonawarra red.
