"Chris Hatcher knows a thing or two about Barossa Shiraz and in this case, he’s drawn on all his experience to produce something special from this powerful statement of the region. Has all the voluptuous fruit intensity you expect but then a fine touch has applied the brakes with fine, sleek tannins and finely tuned oak. A cracking good wine which I would drink in the medium term." Ray Jordan Wine Pilot.
95 Points. "Shiraz sourced from St Johns at the northern extremity of the Barossa Valley. A very deeply coloured wine with rich aromas of macerated blood plums, blackberry, black cherry and cassis. Hints of baking spice, licorice, Christmas cake, Old Jamaican chocolate, olive tapenade, herbs and pastis. Great fruit density with a sandy tannin grip and a real sense of compression and latent power, finishing inky with graphite-edged black fruits and plenty of grunt." Dave Brookes. Halliday Wine Companion
Rating 93+ Points. "Single vineyard Barossa Shiraz by Chris Hatcher. This is smooth and glossy with sweet, jubey fruit flooding the palate, though it’s the grunt of the back palate that draws you in. Blackberry jam, cedarwood, mint, crushed ants, boysenberry and clove characters come delivered with velvety, gum-like texture. Tannin is excellent here; it’s no excessive, but it gives the wine a real rumble. Acidity sticks out fractionally, the only real distraction. This wine will please a lot of folks. Campbell Mattinson. The Wine Front.
