For those unfamiliar with Trebbiano, it's white variety, usually only made in Italy, but this Australian version, produced from 119 year old Barossa Valley vines, would eat those Italian made versions for breakfast, this is a freak of a wine. Wines like this is why Philip White described Dominic Tozri as:
"AUSTRALIA’S BEST BARGAIN WINE MAKER"
And if you want to get a feel for what this wine is all about, then perhaps have a read of Gary Walsh's review. It's a compelling read. But not matter how good the review is, no matter how high the score, I can tell you, if a wine write personally buys a dozen of the wine, you know it must be good. And Gary Walsh did just that. Forked our his own hard earned. There is no better endorsement. Here's his review in full:
We drank this bottle at our favourite seafood restaurant in Manly with some french friends and they described it as similar to Sancerre. It's a white wine with FLAVOUR ! I find a lot of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris has become quite bland recently, verging on the tasteless. This Trebbiano is excellent and I have already ordered more.
Wow, what a wine. Drinking excellent right now. As it comes to room temperature, it becomes more complex with a lot more flavours coming through. Highly recommend this one.
Smooth, fruity, has plenty of acidity, dry, heat length. Absolutely yum
