About this Wine
A micro production at 60 cases per year. Crikey! Although the vines are young at 16yrs the original cuttings were taken from 9 Mataro vines planted amongst the 1850 Grenache block. This is rich, earthy, funky with savoury tannins. One for the collectors me thinks.
About the Winery
Cirillo's claim to fame is its ownership of some of the oldest Grenache vines in the world - 3 ha of bush vines planted in 1848! But wait...there's more! They also own what is believed to be the OLDEST Semillon vines in the world. In this case a single 1ha plot located at Light Pass. Most of the grapes are sold to Torbreck, leaving only a small portion for the Cirillo label. Most of the more recent plantings are mere babes at 30 years old.
