The Standish Wine Company was founded by sixth-generation Barossan Dan Standish and has built a formidable reputation for small-production, single-vineyard Shiraz. The 2024 Lamella comes from Stonegarden Vineyard in Eden Valley and is fermented with 100% whole bunches. It combines serious concentration with an unusually lifted, precise feel, showing dark cherry and mulberry, florals, spice, graphite and savoury herbal notes, all framed by powerful yet finely shaped tannins and exceptional length.
Erin Larkin awarded the 2024 Lamella 98 points for Robert Parker Wine Advocate, calling it “a wine that you feel as much as you taste and smell” and noting its ferrous tannins, graphite, dried rose, cocoa and spice. Mike Bennie also awarded it 97 points for The Wine Front, praising its perfume, succulent dark fruit, mineral character and long, compact finish.
