El Galayo is one of the great revival stories of Spain’s Sierra de Gredos. The historic Cebreros cooperative works with SotoManrique to protect the region’s old vineyards and give its growers a future, producing wines that capture the freshness and character of this rugged mountain landscape. The 2023 Tinto is pure Garnacha from old, high-altitude vineyards planted on granite and slate soils.
Bright and energetic, it is packed with strawberry, raspberry and red cherry, with floral and wild-herb notes running through the palate. Spontaneous fermentation in concrete followed by six months in large French oak vats keeps the fruit fresh and vibrant, with fine tannins, lively acidity and excellent length. A beautifully drinkable, medium-bodied expression of Gredos Garnacha.
