#4 is Eden Valley sourced. Eden Valley Rieslings often showcase delicacy and refinement. Rieslingfreak No.4 typically demonstrates this, by the wine showing aromas of citrus and white blossom, with flavours of brown limes and lemons.
"The name of John Hughes' winery leaves no doubt about his long-term ambition: to explore every avenue of riesling, whether bone-dry or sweet, coming from regions across the wine world, albeit with a strong focus on Australia. The wines made from his Clare Valley vineyard offer dry (No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 10), off-dry (No. 5 and No. 8), sparkling (No. 9) and fortified (No. 7) styles." James Halliday
#4 is Eden Valley sourced. Eden Valley Rieslings often showcase delicacy and refinement. Rieslingfreak No.4 typically demonstrates this, by the wine showing aromas of citrus and white blossom, with flavours of brown limes and lemons, with a background of sweet spice. The wine drinks well young, but will reward with cellaring.
Where this wine comes from - Eden Valley
At an average altitude of 500 metres, think of Eden Valley as the high altitude cousin and neighbour of the Barossa Valley. The ‘high country’ drops the average temperature a couple of degrees, and with cool summer nights, the region is perfect for natural acid retention. No wonder Eden Valley Riesling performs so well and has built an international reputation for its vibrant citrus, mineral and floral aromatics in its youth, with the structure to cellar for years, particularly under screw cap. Eden Valley Shiraz performs well like Barossa Valley Shiraz, but there’s a touch more refinement here with violets, pepper and blueberry fruits. There’s elegance and finesse here, still with the fruit power and intensity you expect from the Barossa wine region.
