As we've previously wrote, it's no secret the Ravensworth winemaker also has a lot of winemaking duties at Clonakilla and there will always be comparisons with Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier.
I think considering the winemaker link, the area and the Shiraz Viognier blend, comparisons are inevitable, as is the price. Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier is priced at $110 and while Clonakilla is a world-class wine and is worth every cent, it's simply outside of most people's budget. Ravensworth Shiraz Viognier is priced at $44.00 which is within most people's budget but it won't be long before this wine sells out.
AustraliaI really like Shiraz-Viognier and this wine is my go-to in the class. Fragrant, floral Viognier elevates the rich and full-flavoured spicy red fruit Shiraz. A long satisfying finish is delivered. Bryan Martin at Ravensworth is my favourite maker.
Bought a few of these to cellar but couldn't resist cracking one to try now. Beautiful wine but clearly has the body & structure to get even better with age. Slightly richer than my memory of Clonakilla wines - really plush wine.
