Trophy – Best Grüner Veltliner of the Show - Adelaide Hills Wine Show 2023
The best alternative wine in Australia in 2024? I'm calling Longview Macclesfield Grüner Veltliner 2024 the winner. But I'm not the only one calling this a winner. It picked up trophy for Best Grüner Veltliner at the Adelaide Hills Wine Show and 97 points and a Top 100 from Cloudwine. And the price? Just $23.95. A bargain, in anyone's language.
Gruner Veltliner is an Austrian variety which reminds me very much of a dry Riesling in terms of style and taste, and Adelaide Hills is sometimes considered to grow the best examples of outside Austria. It's a variety that ages well and this wine should develop splendidly for between 7 - 10 years.
