More Information

Winemaking: Little Giant Shiraz is crafted from fruit sourced from select premium vineyard in the Light Pass region of the Barossa Valley. Picked in the cool of the morning to retain freshness, the fruit is de-stemming and fermented in stainless steel tank. The wine then spent nine months in used large format French and American oak barrels to build structure whilst softening the palate and develop flavour complexity without overt extraction of oak characters.

Tasting Note: The Light Pass sub-region of the Barossa Valley makes up the fruit source with typical plum, red licorice, chocolate and mocha characters adding interest and freshness. This is a contemporary Barossa Shiraz having spent maturation time in older oak adding subtle vanilla and earthy nuance. There’s softness on the finish while maintaining freshness and vibrancy. Pair with a classic roast beef and horseradish.

Where this wine comes from - Barossa Valley

The Barossa Valley is Australia’s best-known wine region and there’s a good reason why. The wines certainly live up to their international reputation, particularly Barossa Shiraz. With long, warm summers, the region produces full-bodied styles with power and panache. The reds are rich and luscious in their youth with dark-berried flavours, fruit intensity and fine-grained tannins, which mature gracefully with time in the cellar. But there’s more to the region than Shiraz. Grenache and Mourvèdre do more than play a supporting role in GSM blends, they’re standing on their own two feet as single varietal wines. And with a new school of winemakers at the helm, the region is in good hands for a long and healthy future.
