J. Lassalle was founded in 1942 in Chigny-les-Roses on the Montagne de Reims and is today run by Chantal Decelle-Lassalle and her daughter Angéline Templier. This vintage Blanc de Blancs is made entirely from Premier Cru Chardonnay grown on clay-limestone soils, with vines averaging around 50 years of age. The 2011 spent a minimum of nine years ageing on its lees before disgorgement, giving it impressive depth and maturity while retaining the estate’s trademark elegance and freshness.
A beautifully evolved Champagne, showing spring flowers, citrus and stone fruit alongside savoury herbal and mineral notes. There is real richness and breadth here, balanced by fine acidity and a persistent, refined finish. Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant describes the 2011 as displaying “elegance and refinement from the first sip to the last” — a superb mature Blanc de Blancs from one of Champagne’s most respected grower estates.
