About this Wine
Golden Ball Chardonnay - what a ripper this 2017 is! The barrel ferment adds to the length whilst the lees stirring gives texture and mouth feel. I find this to be even more so if some air is given whilst fermentation is in progress.
About the Winery
"The Original Vineyard was planted by James McLaurin in 1996, mainly to Chardonnay, Shiraz (in 2013 grafted to Chardonnay), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec; with lesser plantings of Petit Verdot, Sagrantino and Savagnin. The Lineage Vineyard was planted in '08 to Shiraz, followed by lesser plantings of Petit Verdot, Sagrantino and Savagnin. No insecticides are used, only copper, sulphur, milk and oil as foilage sprays. The wines are aged in 33% new French oak, the remainder 2-4 years old. The low yields result in intensely flavoured wines," 5 Star Winery - James Halliday
