"The palate has a.......core of lime-juice flavours with an exceptionally long finish that holds such juicy, pristine citrus-fruit flavours. So long. Organically grown grapes. Drink over the next decade or more." 97pts - Nick Stock - jamessuckling.com
This wine is 100% Riesling from the Isolation Ridge vineyard at Frankland Estate. Riesling vines from two different clones were planted in 1988 on undulating north- and east-facing slopes with duplex soils of ironstone gravel over a clay subsoil. The vineyard is farmed according to certified organic principles and this is reflected in the clarity and complexity of the pristine fruit.
"Hewn of fruit from a marginal ironstone-lain site, this is a different kettle of fish to the pungent power of Poison Hill. More linear. Greater tension, perhaps, while exhibiting a flavour spectrum of grapefruit pulp, lemon zest, fennel and lemongrass. More citric, herbal and wet stone slaty. No less intense, but less generous in the here and now. Bodes well for a bright, long future." 94pts - Ned Goodwin - Wine Companion
"This exudes such pristine life from the glass with elegant, floral notes and fresh lime juice, sliced yellow grapefruit, green apples and powdery bath salts. The palate has a sleekly defined and attractively pithy core of lime-juice flavours with an exceptionally long finish that holds such juicy, pristine citrus-fruit flavours. So long. From organically grown grapes. Drink over the next decade or more. Screw cap." 97pts - Nick Stock - jamessuckling.com
"It’s a powerful style of Riesling, no doubt. Green apple, wet stones, lavender, lime and fresh yoghourt. Intense, bold, fine powdery pumice stone texture with perfume, guava and zest of lime, cool commanding acidity, but so settled and unobtrusive, almost a key lime pie richness carrying the very long finish. It’s discernibly different to most Australian Riesling, and plants its flag firmly in the powder. Wonderful." 96pts - Gary Walsh - WineFront
