More Information

Elanto Vineyard is one of the Mornington Peninsula’s most exciting new projects, created at Balnarring by celebrated winemaker Sandro Mosele with Elizabeth and Tony Todaro. The meticulously designed 10.6-hectare vineyard is planted at an extraordinary 11,111 vines per hectare, with Basalt one of two individual lieux-dits bottled separately from the 2024 vintage.

From a mid-slope parcel where shallow soils bring the basaltic parent rock close to the surface, this is the finer and more graceful of Elanto’s two single-site Pinots. Fermented in concrete with a small whole-bunch component, matured in French oak barriques and given an additional year in bottle before release, it is savoury and spicy, with wild strawberry, black cherry, forest-floor complexity, supple tannins and a long, linear finish. Jane Faulkner awarded it 97 points, describing it as “complex and detailed.”
