"A classic Eden Valley Riesling. A really delicious wine!” Barossa Wine Show Judging Team
"A very fresh, intensely focused nose with vibrant lemon and white-peach notes on offer. The palate has a succulent, juicy and very expressively fleshly feel, winding into a tight, bright and dry finish." Nick Stock, JamesSuckling.com, Nov '20
“A beautiful and pristine wine off Block 7 on the Eden Hall vineyard. The judges responded to its purity, its kinetic energy, its lovely long acid line, and were seduced by it now as a young wine, but can assure you that this wine has the structure to age beautifully. A classic Eden Valley Riesling. A really delicious wine!” Barossa Wine Show Judging Team
About the Winery
Eden Hall vineyard owners, David and Mardi Hall, work in harmony with the environment through a series of different practices and programmes. By installing over 60 solar panels and an extensive investment in a back up battery generation system and water tanks, the business is now operating completely off grid. The vineyard has taken the initiative to be on the front foot of long-term sustainable production by participating in a third-party audit of their Sustainable Winegrowing Australia (SW A), and having successfully passed, and is now considered one of the Barossa’s top three most sustainably run vineyards (in company with Thorn-Clarke and Henschke).
The vineyard has been named an ‘Environmental Champion of the Barossa Valley’ by the Government of South Australia’s ‘Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board’.
Where this wine comes from - Eden Valley
At an average altitude of 500 metres, think of Eden Valley as the high altitude cousin and neighbour of the Barossa Valley. The ‘high country’ drops the average temperature a couple of degrees, and with cool summer nights, the region is perfect for natural acid retention. No wonder Eden Valley Riesling performs so well and has built an international reputation for its vibrant citrus, mineral and floral aromatics in its youth, with the structure to cellar for years, particularly under screw cap. Eden Valley Shiraz performs well like Barossa Valley Shiraz, but there’s a touch more refinement here with violets, pepper and blueberry fruits. There’s elegance and finesse here, still with the fruit power and intensity you expect from the Barossa wine region.
