Curly Flat is a leading cool-climate estate in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges. Its 2024 Estate Pinot Noir draws on hand-picked fruit from 24- to 32-year-old vines rooted in volcanic basalt and Upper Ordovician soils. The wine includes 15% whole bunches, was fermented with indigenous yeast and matured for 18 months in French oak, including 25% new oak, before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Medium-bodied and poised, it layers raspberry and red cherry with rose petal, cedar, gentle spice and savoury notes of forest floor, truffle and dried herbs. Bright acidity and fine, dusty tannins carry the wine through a long finish. Qwine awarded it 94 points, describing it as “divinely silky”.
