Fun Fact: Blue moons are more common than 97 Point Pinot Noirs for less than $30. I had a quick look through the Piot Noirs to receive 97 points in Halliday's Wine Companion over the last 20 years. There's a few. There's been 7 blue moons in that time.
In the Halliday Companion about to be released I can add one more to the exclusive list- Carillion Six Clones Pinot Noir 2022.
It received 97 Points. Halliday lists an RRP of $45 and one retailer has set the price at $40. But we've discounted the price and we have it for $29.99.
Carillon is a well established winery in Australia's 'on trend' wine region - Orange, NSW. As the name suggests, this wine is a mix of five Burgundian clones meld together and what a result this produced in 2022.
In terms of taste, the palate is awash with dark cherry notes, a savoury backbone complemented by a swathe of plush tannins on the long, lingering finish. The balance of the wine is world class.
With a 97 point rating, a $29.99 price tag and Halliday's Companion about to be released, this is guaranteed to sell out before the next blue moon.
It was the first time we had tried Carillion Pinot, but it won’t be the last, really enjoyed the taste of cherry and the long finish. Thanks for bringing this wine to our attention Kelvin & Jan Mccallum
