Founded by winemaker Stephanie Wiid and viticulturist Etienne Terblanche, Thistle & Weed explores distinctive vineyards across South Africa’s Western Cape. Khakibos is their Portuguese-inspired white blend, led by Verdelho alongside Chenin Blanc, Alvarinho, Palomino and Fernão Pires. Whole-bunch pressing and natural fermentation in older French oak bring texture while preserving freshness.
The 2024 offers pear, white peach and floral aromas, with subtle earthy complexity. An energetic palate and pithy finish give it freshness and definition. Christian Eedes awarded it 92 points at Winemag, describing it as “more about nuance.”
