About this Wine
Citrus oil, floral notes, dried pear and grapefruit aromas are well supported by subtle French oak. The palate is textured yet fine, finishing dry and savoury, this is a direct result of wild ferments with turbid juices. Drink as a young wine or cellar in the medium term.
"Light bright yellow hue; wheaty, biscuity aromas, lemon and grapefruit underneath, the palate bright, refined and intense with tension and precision, lasting long on the finish. Superb wine that just vibrates with energy and elegance" Rated: 96 Points. Huon Hooke. The Real Review.
A finer style of chardonnay, which builds deceptively at first, and then gathers momentum to drive to a long finish. It’s had about 9 months in oak which combines perfectly with the fruit. Notes of grapefruit and cashew with a flinty and slightly savoury nuance. The palate length is extraordinary. Really is a very good wine, especially at this price. 95 points Ray Jordan rayjordanwine.com.au
By winning Australia's most well-known and respected wine accolade, the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy, with their first ever red wine, Flametree Wines quickly captured the attention of wine media, trade and consumers. A five star rating in James Halliday’s definitive Australian Wine Companion since 2012 ranks Flametree Wines in the top 5% of all of Australia's wineries.
"Flametree, owned by the Towner family (John, Liz, Rob and Annie), has had extraordinary success since its first vintage in 2007. The usual practice of planting a vineyard and then finding someone to make the wine was turned on its head: a state-of-the-art winery was built, and grape purchase agreements signed with growers in the region. Show success was topped by the winning of the Jimmy Watson Trophy with its '07 Cabernet Merlot. If all this were not enough, Flametree has secured the services of winemaker Cliff Royle." 5 Star Winery - James Halliday
