This wine shows vibrant primary fruit flavours of plums, red berries and spices. Finishing soft and round with velvety smooth tannins. Malbec is rarely seen as a varietal wine but here at Bleasdale and in Langhorne Creek it stands on its own two feet and performs well enough to earn its stripes.
"Malbec this good at this price, really, it doesn’t get any better. Although if Bleasdale doesn’t do great malbec, then no one does. At first, it appears all upfront fruit – black and satsuma plums, blackcurrants – but then savoury notes come through all spiced to the max with pepper, sumac and licorice, some roasted red capsicum, too. There are plentiful tannins, ripe and stretchy across the fuller-bodied palate, and it finishes convincingly. Distinctively and pleasingly varietal as much as an imprint of place and producer." Rating: 95 points. Jane Faulkner. Halliday Wine Companion.
"An exquisite and beautiful example of Malbec. What strikes as astonishing is that it is a modestly priced wine and yet is festooned with gold and trophies. Not hard to see why. Balanced and poised with juicy ripe red berry fruits bursting with vibrancy and energy. Fine chalky tannins and a sliver of oak complement and enhance. Terrific stuff." Rating: 95 Points. Ray Jordan
