"A wonderfully pure-smelling shiraz from John Duval from grapes sourced across a number of Barossan subregions – Krondorf, Marananga, Ebenezer, Moppa and Eden Valley. There is a real plushness to the fruit here; all juicy doris plum, blueberry and boysenberry with hints of licorice, violets, roasting meats, citrus blossom and earth. The silty tannins drift way back in the fruit this year and the finish is long and graceful, with the real spotlight on that fruit purity." 96 Points Dave Brooke Halliday Wine
I don't think any winemaker comes close to John Duval. Max Schubert taught him how to make wine, he became the 3rd winemaker to make Grange and he did that for a decade. During that decade he made Grange famous throughout the world. Yes, under his command, Grange became the international wine it is today. He was named Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine and Spirit Competition 1989, Red Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine Challenge in London in 1991 and 2000 and in 1990 Grange was named the Wine of the Year by Wine Spectator.
