I think Grenache is where Riesling was a few years ago, a bloody delicious variety that is unpopular with the mass market for no apparent reason. Accordingly, prices are obscenely low. This Hentley Farm proves my point. And Hentley Farm, that name may be familiar as it was Halliday's Winery of the Year a few years back. So you know there's no cutting of corners when it comes to wine.
Folks, there won't be too many times in your life that you can buy an under priced yet well made and delicious wine. Today is one of those times. Do yourself a favour, for $23, you can't go wrong.
Usually not a fan of straight grenache but this one is really good. Took some to a recent Beefsteak & Burgundy Club dinner and everyone loved it. One member who really knows his wine bought all the leftovers to take home (there weren't many).
We are quite partial to the Grenache variety and this fruity, powerful young wine didn’t disappoint. Fresh and not over-oaked it is currently a bit raw and brash with good colour and firm tannin finish. Love it now but will do our best to let it mellow for a while longer.
an outstanding grenache - particularly at this price point.
Inviting perfumed nose. Lighter bodied, well balanced with full mouthfeel and red berry fruit highlights. Long and very satisfying finish. A clear winner for Grenache fans at this price point.
