Fantini is one of Abruzzo’s best-known producers, and Calalenta is a characterful expression of the local Pecorino grape. The fruit comes from vineyards around Ortona on the Adriatic coast, with 80% fermented in stainless steel and 20% in large-format oak to build texture while retaining the variety’s freshness and perfume.
The 2025 is aromatic and generous, with pear and white florals at the forefront, subtle spice and a softly textured palate balanced by fresh acidity. Italian critic Luca Maroni awarded the 2025 vintage an outstanding 99 points, making this a particularly impressive example of Pecorino and excellent value for lovers of full-flavoured Italian whites.
