Shaw + Smith Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir 2025

Established in 1989 by cousins Michael Hill-Smith MW and Martin Shaw, Shaw + Smith has become one of the benchmark producers of the Adelaide Hills. Their 2025 Pinot Noir is sourced predominantly from the cool, elevated Lenswood and Piccadilly vineyards. The fruit was hand-picked, around 80% destemmed, gently fermented and basket pressed before spending approximately eight months in French oak puncheons.

Bright and aromatic, the 2025 shows red fruit, mandarin peel and violet, with savoury spice, undergrowth and subtle amaro complexity through the palate. Fine, integrated tannins give the wine excellent shape and length without sacrificing its perfume and freshness. James Suckling describes “red and black cherries, sandalwood, blood oranges and rose petals,” while Campbell Mattinson awarded the wine 94 points at The Wine Front.
