More Information

Longview is a stunning, family-owned Adelaide Hills single vineyard located just outside the historic township of Macclesfield. Set on undulating slopes reminiscent of old world estates but with a clear Australian accent, it has quickly established itself as one of the most awarded vineyards in the region since its first vintage in 2001.

The original vineyards are now 20yr+ in age although plantings of the 'alternative varieties' (Barbera, Gruner Veltliner, Pinot Grigio) are somewhat younger. Winemaking is overseen by Ben Glaetzer in close consultation with owners Peter and Mark Saturno.

"Best Wineries of the Regions" + "5 black stars" Halliday Wine Companion 19/20/21

"Top Wineries of Australia" Huon Hooke, The Real Review 18/19/20

"Red fruits, dried flowers, a little mint and aniseed, subtle baking spice, something a little stony/earthy here too. It’s medium-bodied, bright and tight, a cool cranberry feel to acidity, with fine brick dust tannin grip, raspberry, almond, and earl grey tea, with a lively finish of excellent energy and length, and the way the ferrous tannin shapes the finish is so lovely. This is very good. And I mean very."  Rating: 94 Points.  Gary Walsh.  Wine Front

"Adelaide Hills Nebbiolo, proving that the old saying that Nebb only succeeds in the foggy hills of Piedmont is simply not true. A pale crimson colour here, the nose swirls about with florals, warm earth, truffles, spices, beefstock notes and red fruits. There is plenty of grip here and good concentration. A firm, long finish. This will provide pleasure for the next ten to fifteen years. A very fine local Nebb. One of the best I have seen from these guys."  Rating: 94 Points.  Ken Gargett

"A nebbiolo specialist with a large planting of the variety on their estate site, one could say that Longview has their eye in with the grape. Wonderfully aromatic, succulent and pure in fruit character, deeply spiced, savoury and imbued with refreshing, minerally tannins that draw the wine long and reset the palate with each sip. We're ticking a lot of boxes here. Sappy cherry scents, clove and cinnamon spice, anise, basil and wild sage, pepper and sea spray with bergamot tea whiffs in the bouquet. The palate echoes most of these descriptors, the bergamot tea note distinct to taste with licks of green olive and more wild herbal elements in play. This really ups the ante. Tension, structure, length and vitality are calling cards. How wonderful to see this excellence."  Rating: 95 Points.  Mike Bennie.  Halliday Wine Companion.
