Sub Rosa 'Malakoff' Pyrenees Shiraz 2015

"Balance is often said to be the one word to describe a great wine, and this exudes velvety black cherry at every turn. Cedary oak nuances and persistent, pliable tannins complete the picture." 96pts - James Halliday - Wine Companion

More Information

SubRosa, founded by Grampians born and bred winemaker Adam Louder and his partner Nancy Panter, is a micro-winery in the Grampians, Victoria, producing 400 cases/year of handmade, small batch, low intervention wines. Adam is currently 39 years old but incredibly has completed 34 harvests across the Grampians, Pyrenees, Margaret River, Bordeaux and Napa Valley.

"Grown by the John family at Malakoff Estate, matured for 16 months in French barriques. Its deeper crimson-purple colour and medium to full-bodied palate are in continuing contrast for the two SubRosa Shiraz, but not in the skill of the winemaker. Balance is often said to be the one word to describe a great wine, and this exudes velvety black cherry at every turn. Cedary oak nuances and persistent, pliable tannins complete the picture." 96pts - James Halliday - Wine Companion

Adam is passionate about a low intervention approach to winemaking “I guide the grapes from the vineyard to the bottle and let the grapes do all the hard work. Kinda wanted it fresh and approachable” His intuitive winemaking style focuses around minimal intervention – with little or no additions throughout the process, the grapes are handled gently, with wild ferments, no filtration or fining. Organic practices are used for all winemaking, but SubRosa is not certified organic.
