"Well, syrah has certainly earned its place at the top tier this vintage. Fruit off the close-planted site (5200 vines/ha) at Oakridge, mostly destemmed, with 20% whole bunches in the ferment. Matured 10 months in 10% new French puncheons, harnessing the elements into a complete wine. It's wonderfully savoury, spicy and smoky, with plentiful grainy, textural tannins.
