About this Wine
Made entirely from Abel clone and sourced from low lying, easterly facing vines at Helen's Hill.
"(...) a delicious array of aromas and flavours, the palate silky-soft and finely-textured, long and harmonious. Some foresty, bunchy notes, well-judged and subtle. A gorgeous pinot. (Made from the Abel clone)." 95pts - Huon Hooke - The Real Review
"Abel clone, Selective-harvested, destemmed and crushed, open-fermented, 20 days on skins, matured for 11 months in French puncheons (30% new). The magic of the cool '17 vintage suggests some whole bunch when in fact none was used. Savoury complexity creates drive and intensity, spicy/foresty notes to the fore, and linger long on the finish and aftertaste. I love this style of pinot." 97pts - James Halliday - Wine Companion
About the Winery
"Helen's Hill Estate is named after the previous owner of the property, Helen Fraser. Venture partners Andrew and Robyn McIntosh and Roma and Allan Nalder combined childhood farming experience with more recent careers in medicine and finance to establish and manage the day-to-day operations of the estate. It produces two labels: Helen's Hill Estate and Ingram Rd, both made onsite.
Scott McCarthy started his career early by working vintages during school holidays before gaining diverse and extensive experience in the Barossa and Yarra valleys, Napa Valley, Languedoc, the Loire Valley and Marlborough. The winery, cellar door complex and elegant 140-seat restaurant command some of the best views in the valley. Exports to the Maldives, Hong Kong and China." 5 Star Winery Rating - James Halliday
