"Here’s a wine that would deliver something pretty close to the white burgundy experience for a fraction of the price of a white burgundy...Packed with delicate fruit, refreshing acidity and, like all Giant Steps wines, are characterised by extremely long finishes." Jancis Robinson | Wine of the Week | June 2023
A blend of the individual vineyard releases – Sexton, Tarraford, Applejack, Primavera and Wombat Creek – with a little more input besides. It gets “the Rolls Royce treatment” and then it’s blended to become this. Grilled almonds and peaches with wet stones and runs of citrus. Beautiful (creamy) texture, flavour and composure. The elegance of this, the exotic wet stone notes, the smoky push on the finish. It’s all pretty much into wow territory. This is a gorgeous release, essence of chardonnay, scores schmores, buy and drink. Rating: 94 Points. Campbell Mattison. The Wine Front.
"In May 2016 the sale by Giant Steps of the Innocent Bystander brand and stock was completed. The former Innocent Bystander restaurant and shop has been substantially remodelled to put the focus on the high quality, single vineyard, single varietal wines in what is demonstrably a very distinguished portfolio. Its vineyard resources comprise the Sexton Vineyard (32ha) in the Lower Yarra and Applejack Vineyard (13ha) in the Upper Yarra; there is also the Primavera Vineyard in the Upper Yarra under long-term supervised contract, and Tarraford Vineyard in the Lower Yarra under long-term lease. Exports to the UK, the US and other major markets." 'Outstanding' Winery Rating - James Halliday
