Winemaker/owner Daniel Balzer aims for stru cture and complexity. Gentle pressing straight to barrel, natural fermentation, occasional lees stiring over 1yr. Simple yet very effective.
The first release of Willem Kurt wines in 2014. Daniel sources fruit from exceptional vineyards in Beechworth and the Alpine Valleys. He takes a very minimal approach to wine making, enabling the wine to express its varietal qualities, and the nuances of the season in which it was harvested. Having purchased a parcel of land on the edge of Beechworth in 2017, planting of a vineyard is underway and the journey continues.
A fantastic Chardonnay that is classic Beechworth with flint, lemon pith and acid to burn. If you don't want to pay for giaconda or savaterre this is a great alternative that is underpriced.
Struck match and oak on the nose. Good acid, integrated white fruit notes on the palate with a medium weight mouthfeel and palate.
