Clear, palest straw colour in the glass. Aromas of white peach, pineapple flesh and lemon verbena. The palate offers great fruit weight with flavours of apple spritz, white peach and old-fashioned lemonade. A nice subtle acid line with a long refreshing finish.
“I first tasted Assyrtiko in August 2006 while on holiday with my wife Sue on the Greek island of Santorini, birthplace of the Assyrtiko grape variety. The crisp, acidic qualities reminded me of our Clare Valley Rieslings and yet it was a flavour I had not experienced before. Intrigued with this newfound variety, I began the process of importing cuttings into Australia through quarantine. In August 2012 we planted Australia’s first Assyrtiko at our Lodge Hill Vineyard, a special and unique site treasured by my family and suited to this variety. Our Assyrtiko journey has been fascinating and has enabled us to produce a wine which, I believe, is a true expression of the variety. I hope you find the flavours as interesting as I did in 2006.” Peter Barry - Winemaker

I was introduced to this wine by the Silkyoaks Lodge in the Daintree and loved it straight away. I keep buying more and can’t wait to try the 2023 vintage. My husband and I both really like the acidic crispness of the wine.
I first tried this wine when it was recommended to me in a restaurant on holiday in Port Douglas. And now it's my absolute favourite. Pale, dry, crisp, refreshing....and SO good. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a dry white.
Had this with a kingfish tartare in a tomato jelly and the follow up baby octopus linguine. Loved the freshness and acid balance. A really good match.
I'm no connisseur, but I was lucky enough to have this wine recommended to me a couple years ago. I love it now as much as then. Especially nice on a summer day.
