Badenhorst Family Wines are grown, made and matured on Kalmoesfontein farm in the Swartland appellation of South Africa. The 28ha of old bushvines grow in the Siebritskloof part of the Paardeberg mountain.
"Cinsault, mostly, grenache and shiraz, in the mix, from natural wine/fine wine producer AA Badenhorst of Swartland. Importer: Ex Animo Earth and warm, earthy spice notes, dark cherries, brined black olives to sniff on. Flavours are soft, spicy, a mix of tart red berries and sooty tannins with licks of game meat and truffle savouriness in the mix. Love that supple texture. So inviting. Tannins a fine web building so softly. SO charming." Mike Bennie. (The Wine Front)
"The 2019 Secateurs, a blend of Cinsault, Grenache and Shiraz, offers attractive mulberry, dark chocolate and fynbos scents on the nose that transport you directly to the wilds of the Capelands. Lovely definition and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with a fresh opening. While the aromatics intimate a lush Swartland blend, this is in fact much stricter and more linear. Dark berry fruit, white pepper, sage and touches of curry leaf vie for attention, and the finish is both long and tender. Excellent considering the price." Neal Martin (Vinous)
