"It’s all dark cherry and dried herbs here. Yum. Lush kind of feel with silty tannins and a cool, slightly minty finish, in a pleasing, amaro-like sense. Lots of character, lots of complexity, very savoury. There’s an elemental, savoury thing going on and it feels wholly unique too. Special. Top shelf for the ludicrous price too. It’s a beautiful, unadorned, generous and wispy pinot noir of ease of drinking yet enough detail to keep the pinotphiles very, very interested. Rating: 94 Points. "Mike Bennie. The Wine Front
John & Jennifer Nagorcka’s family vineyard (20 acres) is part of a larger integrated Demeter certified mixed Biodynamic farm of 700 acres. The vineyard is close planted at 5,000-6000 vines/Ha on a North facing slope, 250m above sea level near Tarrington in southwest Victoria.
"This is about as close to the ideal biodynamic vineyard as you could imagine: the 8 hectares of unirrigated vines and the winery are just one part of the Nagorcka family’s farm which also produces sheep, pigs and grain. The farm has been biodynamic since 1998: the wines get better with each vintage”. Max Allan.
This is 100% estate fruit, 25% whole bunches were retained while the balance of the crop was destemmed. A wild ferment was in small open vats and the juice had about three to four days rest before some gentle foot-stomping and a daily plunge. Everything was pressed after 14 days into tank, and then gravity-fed to small French oak (just 15% new). The wine was racked and assembled after 14 months.
