The Kracher Winery lies in the Seewinkel area of Austria´s Burgenland. A combination of the evening fog and the warm Pannonian climate ensures continuous warm-humid weather patterns are dominant and, therefore, allow for Botrytis cinerea to be generated. This is what provides the basis for the fantastic sweet wines such as Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese.
The “Seewinkel“ is an area in the Burgenland region of Austria, approximately 20 km wide, along the eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl. The villages of Illmitz, Apetlon and Podersdorf are situated within this reedy wetland, which is actually a natural preserve. It is an immense plain, with countless shallow lakes of various sizes scattered throughout it. Most of these lakes, including the largest, Lake Neusiedl, are less than five feet deep. This unusual terrain is often covered with dense fog.
I first tried it at a restaurant and knew I had to taste it again! Thank you for selling it. I will be buying more !
