"Owner-winemaker Mario Marson spent many years as the winemaker/viticulturist with the late Dr John Middleton at the celebrated Mount Mary. Mario has over 35 years of experience in Australia and overseas, having undertaken vintages at Isole e Olena in Tuscany and Piedmont and at Domaine de la Pousse d'Or in Burgundy." James Halliday
Consistently one of Heathcote's leading Shiraz-based wines. Dark ruby in colour, with a nose of raspberry and cherry aromas and a hint of blackberry, the juicy fruit characters and fresh acidity similarly dominate on the palate. A lick of vanilla and sweet spice are evident alongside a hint of white pepper, followed by soft yet firm tannins. Good length and a long finish.
This is a most enjoyable wine and solid value for the price. Red berries and leather, and a touch of spice in a pleasingly elegant and integrated package. Tannins are mellowed but fill out the long mouth feel. Impressive!
