Woods Crampton 'White Label' Eden Valley Riesling 2021

Pale, almost clear, with vivid green highlights. The nose is very fresh and restrained, tending towards citrus with subtle floral notes. This is an excellent each way bet ? enjoy now or cellar for the medium term.

About the Winery

"This is one of the most impressive ventures of Nicholas Crampton (his association with McWilliam's is on a consultancy basis) and winemaking friend Aaron Woods. The two make the wines at the Sons of Eden winery with advice from Igor Kucic. The quality of the wines and the enticing prices have seen production soar from 1500 to 11 000 dozen, with every expectation of continued success." 5 Star Winery - James Halliday

Where this wine comes from - Eden Valley

At an average altitude of 500 metres, think of Eden Valley as the high altitude cousin and neighbour of the Barossa Valley. The ‘high country’ drops the average temperature a couple of degrees, and with cool summer nights, the region is perfect for natural acid retention. No wonder Eden Valley Riesling performs so well and has built an international reputation for its vibrant citrus, mineral and floral aromatics in its youth, with the structure to cellar for years, particularly under screw cap. Eden Valley Shiraz performs well like Barossa Valley Shiraz, but there’s a touch more refinement here with violets, pepper and blueberry fruits. There’s elegance and finesse here, still with the fruit power and intensity you expect from the Barossa wine region.
