“If you’re looking for first class, traditionally styled, Barossa shiraz, this release from Turkey Flat is the perfect ‘go to’. It’s toasty, malty, beautifully blackberried and rich, the deliciousness factor from start to finish (very) high. To boot, it has both the inherent structure and balance to keep it at a high level for a good long time. This is Turkey Flat Shiraz in exactly the form you’d like to see it. Plum, kirsch, cream and cocoa characters are all nothing if not seductive. Licks of oak are perfectly applied. Fruit is dark and satisfying. Redcurrant and spice notes are there, but as bit players. It’s Barossa shiraz, fighting fit.” – 95 Points Campbell Mattinson.

Deep crimson purple, this smells super with its aromas of briary dark fruits together with a little cedar/vanillin from the beautifully handled oak (the wine was matured in new and seasoned French oak hogsheads). There is an old vine creaminess to the palate which manages to be rich and concentrated but supremely balanced at the same time. Where this wine comes from - Barossa Valley

The Barossa Valley is Australia’s best-known wine region and there’s a good reason why. The wines certainly live up to their international reputation, particularly Barossa Shiraz. With long, warm summers, the region produces full-bodied styles with power and panache. The reds are rich and luscious in their youth with dark-berried flavours, fruit intensity and fine-grained tannins, which mature gracefully with time in the cellar. But there’s more to the region than Shiraz. Grenache and Mourvèdre do more than play a supporting role in GSM blends, they’re standing on their own two feet as single varietal wines. And with a new school of winemakers at the helm, the region is in good hands for a long and healthy future.
