"Plush red cherry, dark plum cake and violets combine forces with an earthy, dried herb and spicy intensity. It's a powerful mix, but understated. This wine is still in building mode." 95pts - Jeni Port - Wine Companion
The Story Wines was established in 2004 by Rory Lane, selecting grapes from small, older vineyards in the Grampians region of Western Victoria. Rory's story isn't the classic one. He wasn't born into a wine family, he didn't make a small fortune in other business before turning his eye to wine, but rather he started small, with fruit from regions he was most passionate about and transported them to a small suburban winery on the outskirts of Melbourne. In a short time Rory has built a reputation for producing soulful wines, that speak of there regions, they aren't over handled and across the range you see a consistent theme of freshness, balance and drinkability.
"Rhône Valley varieties and the conviction that they are destined for greatness in the Grampians, in our humble opinion. Searching for this greatness, I was able to secure a little Mourvèdre from Moyston alongside our Grenache and Syrah. A simple blend of one third of each has made an incredibly vibrant, taught and chiselled, medium-bodied red. " Rory Lane - Winemaker
"45/40/15% grenache/syrah/mourvèdre. A nod to the future stars of the Grampians, in addition to syrah. Complex, with the 3 varieties complementing each other beautifully here. In keeping with the vibrancy of fruit and lifted, aromatic style of the maker. Plush red cherry, dark plum cake and violets combine forces with an earthy, dried herb and spicy intensity. It's a powerful mix, but understated. This wine is still in building mode." 95pts - Jeni Port - Wine Companion
