Shadowfax 'Minnow' Rousanne 2019

“At Shadowfax we want our vineyards to express their own unique characters and the wine grown there to talk to the one who’s drinking it, by telling its own story. The grapes grown must reflect the site..." Alister Timms - Shadowfax Vineyard Manager

A wonderful quote from Alister Timms, Shadowfax Vineyard Manager

“At Shadowfax we want our vineyards to express their own unique characters and the wine grown there to talk to the on e who’s drinking it, by telling its own story. The grapes grown must reflect the site, thus each vineyard site must be grown depending on its own requests. If you look, listen and taste (both grape, vine and soil) the vineyard will tell you its needs and wants. Whether that be some foliage manipulation, fruit thinning or it may be screaming out for a little drink, we will act. We are not afraid of new ideas, experimentation, trials and tribulation, whilst having a ball doing so. We want the vineyard to do the talking using the wine glass as its stage.” Alister Timms – Vineyard Manager

"Cool-fermented in French hogsheads in the underground cellar. Young roussanne can be boring but this is the opposite, with a plethora of aromas and flavours in Southern Rhône style. Honeycomb, fig, marzipan and pear are neatly corralled by just-in-time acidity." 95pts - James Halliday - Wine Companion

"Site location be damned! Really not a whole to say about Werribee, on wine matters, but this is solid stuff. Speaks volumes of the quality of wine making and viticultural skills at Shadowfax. Built in the classical mold - oily fruits, broad palate, some nuts, dry apricots. You def know your are drinking North Rhone although admittedly, if tasted blind, I might have struggled to pick b/w Rousanne (which it is) or Marsanne. Good going at $22."
